5 Reasons eCommerce Brands Choose a 3PL That Feels Like Part of the Team

Katherine Wroth • April 14, 2025

Not Just a Vendor. A Partner Who Gets It.

When scaling a brand, your fulfillment partner shouldn't feel like a black hole where orders go in and boxes come out. Your 3PL should feel like part of your team; aligned with your goals, invested in your customer experience and obsessed with getting it right.

At Barrett Distribution Centers, we believe a true 3PL is more than just operational support. We're an extension of your brand. From day one, we dig in to understand your business, challenges and long-term vision.

We're not here for a quick fix. We're your forever 3PL — the partner who grows with you, adapts with you and helps you win in every market you enter.

Here’s why the most successful brands choose a 3PL that functions like a true extension of their brand — and how to ensure yours does too.

 1. They Know Your Brand Voice (and Act Like It)

Your customers don’t know or care who your 3PL is, but they’ll notice if their unboxing experience doesn’t reflect your brand. Whether it’s a delayed delivery, the wrong item, or a generic package, every misstep chips away at trust.

A strong 3PL partner:

  • Understands your brand values
  • Matches your tone and attention to detail
  • Treats your customers like their own

That consistency builds loyalty and keeps your brand promise intact, even post-sale.

 2. They Customize, Not Compromise

Fulfillment is not a one-size-fits-all service. A true brand extension means:

  • Flexible kitting and bundling
  • Custom packaging and gift notes
  • Personalized SKUs and product sets

At Barrett, we create scalable solutions that support your unique brand story without slowing you down.

3. They Integrate with Your Tech and Your Team

If you constantly switch between your ops team, your tech team, and your 3PL, something’s off. The right partner makes data easy to access and collaboration seamless.

What that looks like:

  • Real-time visibility into inventory and orders
  • Seamless integrations with your e-commerce platforms
  • A direct line to someone who is dedicated to your account

You shouldn’t have to chase updates. You should already know.

4. They Think Ahead with You

Reactive fulfillment partners put out fires. Strategic partners help you avoid them.

A 3PL that acts like an extension of your brand:

  • Proactively prepares for peak
  • Offers insight into trends and data
  • Helps you scale smart, not scramble later

We’ve seen brands double sales overnight. Our job is to help make sure they don’t burn out doing it.

5. They’re In It for the Long Haul

You want a partner who understands your long-term vision, not just your next promotion. That means:

  • Continuous improvement conversations
  • Quarterly business reviews with real insight
  • Operational changes that grow as you do

At Barrett, we don’t just onboard, we evolve with you.

FRANKLIN, Mass., Aug. 11, 2026 — Barrett Distribution Centers , a leading third-party logistics provider specializing in eCommerce fulfillment, announced a new partnership with PAHI Footwear , an emerging footwear and wellness brand focused on balance, stability and confidence. Barrett is providing omnichannel warehousing, fulfillment and managed transportation services from its Memphis fulfillment campus to support PAHI's direct-to-consumer, independent retail and mass retail channels. "As a growing brand, choosing the right fulfillment partner was a big decision for us," said Luke Schapfel , logistics manager at PAHI. "From the beginning, Barrett took the time to understand our business and where we're headed. Their team was responsive, easy to work with and genuinely invested in helping us build the right foundation for growth. That gave us confidence we had the right partner." The implementation began in late 2025 with a phased rollout. Barrett first onboarded PAHI's direct-to-consumer (D2C) business before expanding support to independent retailers and national retail partners throughout the second and third quarters of 2026. "Barrett has a successful history working with emerging apparel and footwear brands and helping them scale across omnichannel programs," said Scott Hothem , senior vice president of customer solutions at Barrett. "We're excited to support PAHI as it builds its presence in the U.S. market from our Memphis fulfillment campus. We look forward to helping the brand grow across both direct-to-consumer and retail channels." Barrett currently supports approximately 500 SKUs of men's and women's footwear for PAHI across direct-to-consumer, independent retail and mass retail channels. The partnership provides PAHI with a scalable fulfillment foundation as the brand continues to grow across channels. About PAHI Footwear PAHI was born from a simple yet powerful vision: to create footwear that combines comfort, innovation, and stability. The brand was founded to meet the growing need for footwear that offers not only style but also balance and support, empowering people to move with confidence throughout their daily lives. Drawing inspiration from the 5000-year-old twin-hull boat technology, PAHI introduced the P.O.R.T. system, revolutionizing how shoes provide balance.
