Unkinou Her, Finalist

Warehouse Lead, Franklin MA

Since joining the Barrett team in 2010 Unkinou has grown into an invaluable role and key contributor to our success with Vibram, our most active customer in Franklin.  It is a significant responsibility to manage a staff of 30, and he has demonstrated the poise to stay composed during peak demand. His leadership by example, attitude, speed, and accuracy gains respect from his teammates and senior management.  We are pleased to recognize Unkinou Her as one of our Finalists for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

Pee Jay Laureta, Finalist

Warehouse Lead, Ken’s DC

Pee Jay was Chuck’s “go to” warehouse employee in Mansfield early in 2011, making key contributions to the Safety/Sanitation team, the Cycle Count program, and the Small Package area.  His ability to direct temp labor on the rail cars prompted Chuck to interview him for the role of Warehouse Lead in the Ken’s operation.  All of us, especially his peers, are most pleased with Chuck’s sound judgment. Pee Jay stepped up and took charge of a crew of new employees, leading by example and making sure that his teammates embraced the “Barrett way” – the Richard Barrett way – which is, of course, the key criteria for this award!  Congratulations to Pee Jay Laureta on being named a Finalist for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

Ron Munro, Finance

2011 was a period of tremendous growth for Barrett, as we expanded our operations by 75%.  Ron took on responsibility for billing our key new customers.  In so doing, he worked closely with senior management and gained admiration from all.  In particular, he did a great job of communicating and resolving issues in a timely manner.  Ron works tirelessly to make sure our financial reporting is accurate and complete, and is a key contributor to the success of our GGOB program.  Congratulations to Ron Munro on being nominated for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

Twila Guy, Customer Service - Memphis

On a daily basis Twila exceeds the expectations of our customers, her coworkers, and our partner/vendors.  Whenever a customer has a special request, out of the norm, she makes it happen for that customer and they recognize the extra effort.  The gift basket she received from a customer of Kawaii exemplifies what all of her customers perceive – that she provides that “slight edge” extra effort that is a difference-maker for our customers.  The entire staff in Memphis knows they can count on Twila to step in and help with any request, whether it is an employee with a benefits question, or another member of our Customer Service group who needs some “IT Support”.  Her teammates never hesitate to ask her for help, because they know she will give them 100% effort.  Congratulations to Twila Guy on being nominated for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

James Turnage, Warehouse Supervisor – Memphis

James’ performance is a key reason why we enjoy great success with the PCP business in Memphis.  This customer has the highest regard for Barrett, and ranks us as their #1 third party warehouse, far outdistancing the others.  His performance for this business is a critical reference point when we are bidding on additional opportunities that support Wal-Mart in Memphis.  James is unflappable under extreme challenges, when our seasonal business peaks in the fourth quarter.  He always does whatever it takes to meet the customer’s demands.  His response to customer challenges is one of the hallmark criteria for this award, and we are most pleased to congratulate James Turnage on his nomination for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

Alex Irizarry, Receiver and Picker – AAP/Leicester

Alex’s proficiency in the receiving process for Advance Auto Parts has been recognizable for two years.  In 2011 Alex assumed an expanded role answering phone calls from stores, expediting customer pickups, and researching delivery issues.  He pushed Ken Marasca and Dave Zadziejko to teach him to become self-sufficient in this role, and he excelled in his mastery of the Advance Auto WMS.  As a result, Ken can count on him to cover for Supervisor vacations and lead the day shift.  Alex is responsive to the stores when they phone us, while continuing to excel in productivity and accuracy.  Alex’s performance is a key reason for our high ranking among all PDQs operating for Advance Auto; and a key to our high customer satisfaction scores from the AAP Stores.  Congratulations to Alex Irizarry on being nominated for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.

Adam Ballarino, Inventory Control

Adam has provided invaluable support to all of our locations in 2011. We improved our overall inventory accuracy in 2011 over 2010, and we are now hitting our targets in every operation thanks to his persistence, his passion for identifying root causes, and his determination to implement a permanent correction when he identifies a problem.  In addition to the recognition bestowed on him by Kevin Moran, Adam has also been identified by other managers as a key contributor to their success.  He would be a first round draft pick on any of our teams at Barrett.  Congratulations to Adam Ballarino on his nomination for the 2011 Richard J. Barrett Employee of the Year.
