BARRETT DISTRIBUTION CENTERS HONORED BY FAMILY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

One Of Nineteen Family-Owned Businesses In Massachusetts Recognized at Awards Event

Boston, MA –Barrett Distribution Centers was honored as a highly successful family business by The Family Business Association (FBA), the leading independent, non-profit organization serving family business enterprises, at a recent ceremony in Cambridge, MA.  The company was one of nineteen businesses selected for this honor among hundreds.  The FBA Awards recognize the importance of family businesses in the state and the critical role these companies play in providing significant employment opportunities, revenue generation, as well as economic development and growth in their communities, the state, and the region.

The honorees were chosen from a variety of successful companies from across Massachusetts, and represent small, midsize and large companies (employees and revenue) as well as first generation businesses.

The October 22nd event featured Todd Blount, President, Blount Fine Foods, as the keynote speaker. The five-generation family-owned company was established in 1880 and produces gourmet and specialty refrigerated and frozen gourmet soups, sauces, side dishes and entrees for food service, restaurants, and retailers.

Dedicated to the continuing success of the family-owned firm, the FBA offers educational programs and a platform for family businesses to share their knowledge, experience, and expertise while navigating the inherent challenges that are unique to family-owned companies.  Award finalists receive access to special FBA resources throughout the year, including events, seminars and media opportunities, all designed to help these companies reach their strategic goals, growth, and success.

“We are thrilled to celebrate family businesses whose accomplishments and particular success stories are not told nearly enough and whose contributions power Massachusetts' economic engine and continue to be the backbone of what has and will continue to drive the US economy ” says Jeffrey Davis, FBA Founding Director.

WBZ-TV’s David Wade served as the event’s Master of Ceremonies at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, MA.
